Manatee Viewing at Blue Spring Florida

Manatees in the warm spring waters of Blue Spring State Park, Florida. The best time to see manatees up close is during the winter when they move into the warm waters at Weedon Island, Blue Springs and at the Progress Energy power plant at Apollo Beach.

Manatee Viewing at Blue Springs
Blue Spring is a designated Manatee Refuge and the winter home (mid-November through March) to a growing population of West Indian Manatees.

The spring´s crystal clear, 73 degree water can be enjoyed by swimmers, snorkelers, and certified scuba divers with a partner during warm weather. But swimming or diving with manatees is not permitted and is swimming is not allowed during the winter months when manatee are present.

For more information on Blue Spring, see my review from last summer.
