Manatee Springs State Park, Florida

Located in North Florida near Chiefland, Florida is one of Floridas thirty three first magnitude springs.
Manatee Viewing
In winter, West Indian manatees swim upriver to the warmer waters of the springs. Now is a good time to see these gentle creatures as they seek the warmer waters of the Florida Springs.
Water Sports
Popular for snorkeling,  scuba diving, canoeing and kayaking in the warmer months, the headwaters of the spring are also a great spot for swimming. The spring run forms a sparkling stream that meanders through hardwood wetlands to the Suwannee River.
Concessions
April-September a concession provides beverages, snacks and canoe/kayak rentals. Children enjoy the playground in the picnic area. Hiking and bicycling are available on the north end trail system. The full-facility campground is surrounded by red oak woods.
Statistics
This pristine crystal clear spring discharges an average 100 million gallons of water every day. This water comes from rainfall within a 40 mile radius from the spring where the surrounding lands resemble a sponge, quickly transferring rainfall into deep caverns that deliver the water to the spring from every direction.
